Guide

Day, night, and sleep

  • During the day, move between rooms, use the phone, watch TV, and investigate guests.
  • At night, you are restricted to the hallway and bedroom.
  • You cannot sleep while you still have energy. Spend it before ending the day.
  • Sheltering only humans increases your maximum energy the following day.

Energy and supplies

  • Energy drinks restore 1 energy point.
  • Cigarettes restore 1 energy point, but reduce the next day's maximum energy.
  • Beer sets your current energy to zero, which can allow you to sleep.
  • Order supplies by phone during the day. Deliveries arrive on scheduled nights.

The door and special encounters

  • Inspect every night knock through the peephole before deciding.
  • Question visitors and compare their answers with what you learn from the TV.
  • The Pale Woman kills you if you admit you are alone, or if you have no human company to support your answer.
  • F.D.A.I. agents can take sheltered guests away for testing.

Using the phone

  • Open the phone during the day and enter a number with the keypad, then press Call.
  • The phone becomes usable after the number commercial appears on TV.
  • Known contacts can provide supplies, information, or special encounters. Some numbers are discovered during play.
  • Call the F.D.A.I. line to review identification protocols learned from television broadcasts.

Why watch TV?

  • Television is your main source of information about the visitors and the world outside the shelter.
  • Turn it on during the day and watch the broadcast until the current segment ends.
  • Each day can bring a new alert, commercial, or contact. Important broadcasts unlock new options and information.
  • Watch the identification transmissions carefully. They explain what separates a human from a visitor and can be consulted later by phone.

Night dangers

  • Two or more visitors can work together and murder a human guest while you sleep.
  • If visitors remain and no humans are left, they will turn on you.
